A. Douglas McLaughlin P.Geo Joins The Exploration Team

Matamec is pleased to announce that A. Douglas McLaughlin P.Geo. is joining its exploration team. Douglas has 24 years of mineral exploration experience ranging from reconnaisance scale projects to detailed evaluation of mineral deposits. Most of this work was gold exploration in Archean terrain of the Superior Province (similar of the geology at Sakami) around the Kenora, Red Lake and Timmins camps of Ontario, and in the Northwest Territories as well as gold exploration in the Yukon and nickel exploration in the Cape Smith Belt of Ungava. While working for Echo Bay Mines, Douglas supervised the exploration work at the Lupin Mine and at the nearby Ulu deposit. For Falconbridge, he headed the Lake Sill exploration project in Ungava. He was also directly involved in the discovery of the Mt.Skukum gold mine in the Yukon and the Lara massive sulphide deposit in British Columbia. Douglas is joining the team at the Sakami property within the next few days for the summer program. He is a hands-on professional with experience from primary exploration to mine start-up and a discovery record that speaks by itself. The addition of Douglas to our exploration team follows the Matamec policy of having a highly professional, efficient and results oriented team with a solid track record of successful projects, for the benefit of the shareholders. On May 18, 2002, the board of directors granted a total of 824,000 options (autorized in virtue of the options Stock Plan), at the price of 0,16$ per option (closing price on May 17th), as follows: 200,000 options to each of Jean Lavallée, Claude R.
